Mabel the Great Dane

Magnificent Mabel is a stunning 2 year old Great Dane This big baby is as soft, gentle and sensitive as they get. Mabel arrived into our care in great health but undersocialized and extremely scared of the world. She had never been indoors, on a lead, and had not met other people or dogs. She took a long time to trust her foster family and could not eat or drink anywhere other than her own safe space. She learns quickly but trusts slowly and carefully. She is sensitive to anything different and can be quite skittish when surprised. She is , however, a smart, enthusiastic girl who loves learning to play, to bound around the garden like a calf, to leap into the boot and to go on walks in the forest. We are looking for quite a specific home for Mabel as we really need her to go somewhere she is safe and loved from day one. Mabel would be happy as an only dog, if she has her person around all day. She potters around after her foster mum and plants her snout into the palm of your hand for reassurance. She is quite happy with other dogs though and may prefer another young dog who will play with her. But large dogs only.  Mabel will need a home with experience of giant breeds (preferably Great Danes) as she is very strong and can be stubborn and nervy. She seeks connection very quickly and will keep checking in on you. Her adoration to her people is unwavering so trust is very important. Due to her age and size children over 12 please and an enclosed garden is a must.

Mabel is not good around cats or livestock. A very secure garden essential.
