Sparky the Jack Russell

Sparky is a Jack Russell mix around 1.5 years (that’s what the vets estimated).

When I first picked him up, he jumped straight on me and started licking my hands. He was shaking like a leaf but even so seemed eager to get cuddles. He has not a single bad bone in his body: all he wants to do is sit on my lap and get his cuddles.

Sparky is pretty much house trained unless for unforeseen reasons I change our routine. During the day when I’m at work, he will just sit on the armchair by the window and wait for me to come back. He’s ok with sleeping on his own downstairs in the living room on his favorite armchair, and even more so if I prepare a hot water bottle for him.

I got another JRT yesterday and Sparky gets on great with her. He takes care of and protects her. When we come back from our walks he will lick her dry and cuddle up with her on top of me – not the jealous type at all!

Her name is Jessie. She’s also looking for a forever home. Jessie is a very nervous dog but Sparky seems to understand her and manages to make her feel safe and protected. The two of them together are a perfect match since they keep each other company and don’t seem to be jealous of each other at all. They will just share the cuddles, food and everything. In general, Sparky seems fine with other dogs. Sometimes they seem to scare him and he starts shaking, but for most of the time he will just acknowledge they exist and try and play with them.

He’s also great with people: whoever comes visit will get their share of licks and cuddles. He will sometimes bark at whoever passes by the living room window though, so he might even make a good guard dog. I think Sparky will be ok in whatever home he gets, as long as he gets a lot of love and attention: someone living alone (even if working some of the day) seems just as good for him as someone being home all day. He does like his walks, but seems to always look forward to returning back home and going back on the couch.
