Maximus the Spanish Mastiff
What a dog! Maximus is an Apricot Spanish mastiff with brindle speckling. He is a very big boy weighing in at 49 Kgs and 2ft 9 inches tall from the pad of his foot to the top of his head when standing. He is truly stunning. He constantly gets stopped on walks by people wanting to declare their awe of such a majestic creature.
Maximus loves company both human and canine alike. He takes to small dogs straight away but likes to introduce himself to big ones with a deep bark. Maximus is a loveable giant who does not have a bad bone in his body and he is very funny. When he sees a hose he hides by burying his head in the cushions on the couch.
While Max is very gentle and loves kids he can be a little clumsy so it would be best if he found a forever home that did not have very small children. That said he is so easy to walk on the lead with Halti that the kids often hold him. He is very clever and learns quickly. He is house trained, recalls, give a paw, sits, lies down and stops barking on command 97% of the time. Sometimes he decides to be a little naughty but only for a couple of minutes before falling back in line. It would be very important that his new home continue and maintain his training. Max does not bark when there is nobody home to protect so he will not annoy neighbours.
Maximus will need a forever home that has a large secure garden and people who have experience with large to giant dog breeds. He would like to spend time indoors because he wants to be with his people and enjoys home comforts. His breed does slobber a bit so a new owner would need to be tolerant of this. It cleans easily and has not been any real problem while in foster care.
Maximus is a very rewarding companion and gives back all he gets in spades. He really deserves a loving and safe forever home.
