Gypsy the German Shepherd Pup
When Gypsy came into our care one of her eyes was damaged and had to be removed. This however has in no way impacted Gypsy’s love of people and life. She is currently in a great foster home and this is what her foster family have to say about her: “Gypsy is such a sweet natured girl, approx 5 months GSD. She loves company, playing catch,is great with children and has basic commands. Typical of her breed Gypsy loves to please people and is a very smart girl, housetrained and sleeps all night, she is good on the lead and has a great recall ! She’s a beautiful affectionate dog, and I’d keep her in a heartbeat if I were in a position to, so anyone would be lucky to have her. Like all german shepherds she needs a lot of exercise and stimulation otherwise she will be bored and destructive. She would love another playful dog to play with.
She’s great with the kids, and they adore her. Like Heidi, she is a very hungry dog, and ruled by her stomach, currently in the process of training her to not jump up when food is being served. She gets on great with Heidi, but will definitely need a patient dog as she is very playful and boisterous, and steals beds, food, treats and toys from Heidi. Still v. puppylike.
She seems to distrust men, although she is better with male children than adults. Her eye doesn’t seem to bother her or deter her much. She is a bit clumsy at times on her blind side, but recovers quickly. When she first arrived and for the first week and a half, she had to be carried up and down the stairs, but she’s finally mastered them. She’s good for letting you know she needs to go out to do her business, and only had a few accidents so far. I discovered it was because she was getting distracted on her toilet breaks and not actually going, touch wood, there hasn’t been an accident in a week now.
