Goldie the Belgian Shepherd

Goldie is female Belgian Malinois of approximately 5 1/2 years of age weighing 26kg. When she first came to Cork Dawg, almost 3 years ago, she was pregnant and bore 9 lovely pups who all found good homes. It took 16 months to find a home for Goldie which she has enjoyed for almost a year and a half now. Her owner absolutely adores her but current circumstances mean he can no longer accommodate her adequately, for which he is beyond sad.

Goldie is a beautiful and strong girl who is up for all levels of activity and adventure but equally quite happy to plop down on the sofa for hours of chilling out. She is a very good sleeper. She is extremely well behaved in the house, impeccable in her personal grooming and is a very light shedder. She’s very responsive to most commands, willing to please, and a very quick learner. She has a strong food drive which really helps with training. She loves playing ball, tug of war with a stick and other games. She shows no aggression whatsoever to people or children and is very friendly to them, except she can have some initial wariness of taller, larger men until she is used to them. She almost never barks unless triggered by other dogs in or near her space

Her main issues are moderate to strong reactivity to other dogs (not all dogs). Separation anxiety and she doesn’t like crates. She attended doggy care once a week for about a year up to October where her fantastic trainer, Chloe Stanford, made exceptional progress with her socialisation with other dogs. Further experiences like that would be recommended.

Goldie is excellent in the car. She is the best companion. She adores belly rubs and snuggle time.  Goldie loves to be close to her human. She is the perfect pal for someone working from home, and who also loves the outdoors.

Experience of the Shepherd breed required.

Goldie has gone to her forever home!
