Jake the Lurcher

Jake is a 9 month old lurcher x, he has been in foster care with our family for 3 months. He is a really sweet boy, very gentle and loving. Jake is wonderful with our two young kids and very friendly to all people once he gets used to them. When Jake came to us he was extremely nervous and very wary of men who called to the house, we have worked very hard with the help of a great dog behaviourist and we are making progress, he is becoming more trusting now. He likes to pull when on the lead when there is another dog present, but on his own he is after getting very good at his heel commands. Jake is very good off lead and his recall is excellent. He doesn’t like to be away from me for too long, so when we take him to the beach with our own dogs he comes back every so often to check in. When he meets new dogs he does like to investigate them and he does stand his ground at first but after a very short time he submits and wants to play. His big, dark brown eyes would melt your heart and when he is very happy his lip lifts a little and he actually smiles. Jake would be best suited to a home where the training and confidence building would continue.
