WELCOME TO CORK DOG ACTION
WELFARE GROUP |
|
Cork
DAWG is an organisation founded and
run mostly by a network of volunteers concerned with the welfare
of abandoned, abused
and
ill-treated dogs in Cork.
Through our collective experience we aim to improve
the lives of Cork's dogs and also endeavour to educate the public
on dog welfare and dog ownership.
To
do this, we need your help....

Very
special home needed for Bijoux. Bijoux
is a very pretty King Charles who has been used for breeding
and never socialised. Bijoux is making very very slow progress.
She is in a wonderful and very understanding foster home
and there is no urgency in moving her but we dont want Bijoux
to become a long term foster we really want her to find
the home that suits her needs. Bijoux is very scared of
people and needs to get to know you in her own time. She
gets on great with the 2 male dogs she is in foster with.
She is unsure of cats. There is no badness whatsoever in
this girl. She needs a home where she can progress and grow
in confidence and where nothing is expected of her. She
has learned to go for a spin in the car without completely
freaking out, getting a lead on her is still a work in progress.
She is more or less housetrained. She lets Jane cuddle her
sometimes. She even enjoys to be brushed. But only sometimes.
If you would like more information on Bijoux please email
us your details to info@dogactionwelfaregroup.ie

Remember
Me?
Just look
at me now!!!

Cullen
came into us in an atrocious way, starving, hairless, weak.
We would like to thank all our supporters who donated towards
his care and especially we would like to say a thank you
to his fosterer Katie who made Cullen her special project.
Cullen developed rickets due to malnutrition and Katie gave
him a special diet and put him under a special lamp every
day to get some vitamin D. He has turned into a beauty.
A pup with character and a very cheeky lurcher streak. Shame
on the person who left a pup wander aimlessly in the condition
Cullen was found. Well done to the person who didnt turn
a blind eye and carried him to safety. Cullen has been given
the all clear to travel to his new home in Jersey. Nicola
will make the trip as far as the UK to collect him. Cullen
will be missed in Katie's home but she will have room (in
time) for another special project. Katie you have worked
wonders with him. He will be leaving shortly to his fantastic
future, one he very nearly didnt have. Cullen's is a story
that makes all the hard work worthwhile.

The face
of greed, breeding and puppy farms in Ireland today.
Piper
is a Springer Spaniel estimated to be 7/8 years old. Piper
was picked up by a very kind lady. Left abandoned and in
such a sorry sad state it would break your heart. She is
severely underweight, destroyed in mange and has weeping
open sores all over her body. She was covered in fleas and
ear mites and faeces. Piper has barely a tooth left in her
mouth and is suffering with Gingivitis. The vet confirmed
that Piper was used as nothing more than a breeding machine.
She has had litter after litter leaving her whole body in
a sorry state. Piper has obviously grown too old for puppies
so therefore was just dumped like a discarded piece of rubbish
and left to die never known what life and love is all about.
Piper
is now in foster care and even though this dog has been
nothing but abused by the person who had her, she is very
forgiving and craves love!! Pipers tail is wagging, it wags
alot and she just wants to show her love and like all dogs
her loyalty. Piper is quite timid but will slowly come over
for a pat on the head. Hugs are too scary right now but
with a little bit of reassurance they are just around the
corner. Her mange is pretty bad at the moment and although
she is receiving medication for it, it will take some time
to heal. Piper scratched so much the first night in foster
care that she left the carpet stained with her blood. How
can anyone treat a dog so bad to allow it to get to the
state that poor Piper is in. She has never ever known what
it is like to be some ones pet, someone's Best Friend. She
is such a lovable lady and is so so gentle and calm. Piper
has no badness in her, only love. Thankfully this is where
Piper starts to live again, she will never ever know cruelty
again. This is her road to recovery and a life of love,
soon will be her happy ending!!

Please
help DAWG in its " 5
to survive " campaign.
We
are experiencing very tough times at DAWG and we desperately
need to increase our income to enable us to continue
to rescue and rehome the so many dogs that need our
help.
We are calling on all our supporters
to help us in our " 5
to survive campaign".
We are asking for 5
minutes of your time to complete a standing
order of 5
Euro a month and help us achieve our target of 500
new standing orders. This
money will go directly to help the dogs that need it
and it will enable us to continue our work.
Our target will be posted on our website
and will be updated weekly. In
return for signing up DAWG will send each new member
a thank you pack including your very own DAWG postcard,
keyring and magnet.
Please help us achieve our goal and
reach our target. Once we reach our target
ALL our standing order supporters will be entered into
a draw. More details on the draw will follow. Also for
those of our supporters who already have a standing
order with DAWG, please email and we will forward you
our thank you pack.
The dogs of Cork need us so we cannot let them
down. THANK YOU.
