The DAWG Sanctuary
DAWG shelter is now based in Charleville, where dogs who are not in foster care wait to meet the adoptive family that’s just right for them. Dogs in our shelter have access to fields for running and playing, warm beds and blankets, quality food and veterinary care, and the love of volunteers to walk and throw balls for them!
Visiting the Sanctuary
If you’re interested in adopting a dog from our shelter, we’d love to introduce you to the dogs we think would make a ‘pawfect’ match for you. Viewing the dogs at the sanctuary is strictly by appointment. You can arrange to make an appointment by ringing 086-3457488. Appointment times are Monday to Saturday 11am-1pm or 2pm-3.30pm.
When you visit the sanctuary we ask that you bring along any other dogs that you have to see how they get on with the possible new addition. Also when possible all family members must be present. If during your visit, you see a dog that you would like to adopt, then the adoption process begins and the dog is reserved for you until a homecheck is carried out.
Volunteering at the Sanctuary
We desperately need volunteers to walk and play with dogs in the sanctuary, and to help with feeding, kennel cleaning and laundry for our residents. The only requirement is a love of dogs and a pair of wellies! Whether you can give one day a week or one day a month, our shelter dogs and shelter staff will be very grateful for your time.
