Boris is about 2 or 3 years old but still can act like a puppy, he loves to pay all the time and is really happy if he has some squeaky toys to play around with. He is a very sweet boy, he came here after an operation on his leg but was still in good spirits, even the vets noted that when he let them take out stitches and staples and didn't make a peep! He is fully healed now and ready for his new home. He is a very sweet and affectionate dog with a lot of love to give someone who has the time for him. He is clever and quick to learn. Boris is fine to live with cats also.

LADY

UPDATE: Lady was surrendered into us by her family and was very fed up in the shelter. She is now in foster and this is her report: I've lady just a few days but what a laid back doggie. I've yet to hear her bark. She talks by whining gently when she wants something. Her tail his constantly going and she looks to be smiling all the time. Great with other dogs kids and adults. She is a stocky girl so maybe small kids mite get knocked over when she wobbles with excitement. But otherwise a super loving lady!

SUIL

Suil is a 6 year old terrier. She was adopted previously after a very hard beginning to her life. After such a touch life it has left its mark. Suils new family adored her and did everything in their power to make her life safe, calm and loving. But Suil just is very nervous of their two year old. They have spent two years literally trying to make it work but Suils past and what she has been through makes it hard for her to trust. Suil needs a special home. No children and she must be the only dog. A retired couple or a person living alone would suit Suil. She is extremely loving, adores her cuddles and loves human company. Suil needs to feel secure and needs to live in a calm environment. She will be a very loyal companion in the right home.

WOODY

Woody is a 2-3 year old small JRT. He is a little sweetie, so gentle and loving.  He is coming out of his shell and although a bit nervous at times he is a fun loving fella especially when playing with his sqeeky toys. Woody would benefit from having the company of another dog so that he can come out of his shell more and become a more confident little dog. However he would also be suited as the only dog in the home, as he also loves human company and likes to potter around the house watching what's going on. Woody enjoys his walks and is great on the lead.

REILLY

Riley, an 11 mth old little terrier x is such a happy little chap who loves nothing better than cuddling up on your lap at the end of the day. He's fantastic on a walk, has excellent recall and once he has a ball he'll stay out all day. I've found him to be brilliant with other people and he absolutely adores to play with other dogs, so I think a household that is looking for a companion for their own dog would suit him perfectly. He's housetrained and is so good at letting you know when he wants to go out, he'll sit, stay and leave so is very obedient and of course he loves to give the paw. Riley will make a fantastic companion for anyone, he has such an intelligent expression on his face that I actually believe he understands exactly what you're saying to him.

Reilly is in foster with cats also and has no problems with them

JACK

Jack is a 12 yr old jack russell x and is lively for an old chap, he is house trained , has great recall off the lead. He is wonderful with children and is quite nosey. He loves nothing more than to sit at your feet and listen to you talk. He still needs a nice walk daily, he is strong and healthy and has a wonderful temperment. He is very good with other dogs, he likes to be the Alpha dog in my house with my own dog, but my little dog doesn't seem to mind that at all. He is a clever dog and will find ways out of gardens that appear closed off, presently he is climbing out over the side wall of my own home to see what the children are doing out in the front yard, so an enclosed garden is a MUST.
In the evenings he is very well behaved, he sits down on the rug , closes his eyes and sleeps AND SNORES lol. He is delighted when the fire is lit, often getting so close that I swear he could catch fire. He loves sunbathing too and follows the sun around the garden. He also has a sweet tooth and is partial to the occasional biscuit.
So you can see he is wonderful and special and deserves to see out the rest of his life being adored in the best home for him.

He is in foster now with other dogs and loves playing with humans dogs and toys and sticks etc. He is great with other dogs of both sexes and is lead trained and housetrained. He has met the 3 year old nephew of his fosterer and has been very gentle with him too. Please contact 0876739951 for more information.

THOMAS

Thomas has been with me for over 8 weeks now. He's is very gentle and playful, he absolutely adores being cuddled and would sit on your lap for the entire day if he could.
Thomas has learned all his basic commands "sit, stay, down, leave, paw and high 5" and is currently learning his recall, he is also good on the lead.
When Thomas first came to me he was petrified of men to the point where he'd pace the floors after the man had left the house, he is now learning to trust. Its a slow enough process but Thomas always get there in the end.
Thomas needs a very special and patient home, with a loving owner who understands he's a special boy, who needs time to adjust to his happy life where he is unconditionally loved.
Thomas will make the most affectionate and loyal dog for the first individual who gives him a chance.

SHEBA

Sheba has been in foster for a year now.

Sheba is a 7 year old German Shepherd, she is such a gentle lady and all she wants is a little love.  She is nervous of big dogs but not a bother with small dogs or cats. She just adores children and is amazingly gentle with them.  Sheba has had a tough start but is slowly coming out of herself. She tends to bond with the woman of the house and will follow you absolutely everywhere. She is house trained and immaculately clean, she even goes to the same spot in the garden everyday to do her business.  When we leave the house she sits at the window until we come home so we have a built in security system with her!  Sheba has a little problem with her back hip so needs very little exercise.

POLLY

Polly is a very nervous little jack russell girl. My opinion is she has never had a family but if she did then she was given no attention from them and has learned to survive on her own. She just longs to be a part of a family.

She would be an ideal pet but needs a lot of focus and attention. Ideally she needs another canine companion as she needs to learn her behaviour. She turns to Murphy (Bichon) for direction on everything.

Her forever home will need to be ideally with a very patient person and with one who will give her the time and space for her to learn to trust again. She can not be rushed.

Your reward will be a very grateful, loyal and gentle companion.

Polly would suit an adult home only as she is so nervous, somewhere where she can adapt quietly. A secure garden is a must. Polly is housetrained.

Email: info@dogactionwelfaregroup.ie
Tel: 0871199977

Update Polly is coming on so well and has learned to trust her fosterer. she loves her foster pal and their walks on the beach together. This little Diva has come a long way and is well and truly ready for her new home.

JACOB

Jacob the greyhound is now looking for his forever home. This boy was so withdrawn and depressed at the shelter we put up an appeal for a foster home. Thanks so much Caroline for having him and Gus who doggie sat for him. Jacob is so gentle and most grateful for anything he gets. He loves his walk a day and is happy to snooze a long while afterwards on the couch. He is housetrained and is currently in foster with 2 small dogs. We cannot say enough good things about gentle Jacob.

ODIE

Meet Odie, he's a 3 year old terrier, microchipped, neutered vaccinated & house trained.

AUTUMN

Autumn, is a four year old Jack Russell terrier, who is being re-homed through no fault of her own.
Autumn, is a very sweet and pretty little dog; she loves nothing more than a good run, a bowl of food, followed by a sleep on your lap.She is very loving and affectionate, sits on command and has great recall.Autumn has no problem with other dogs when she is off the lead, however she does get nervous at times and can feel threatened by other dogs and traffic when on the lead. She has been living in a home with other dogs and gets on great with them.

As Autumn is a young terrier, she does require regular exercise and would best be suited to a home with older children. She was raised with two cats and got on fine with them but she still chases cats she doesnt know. Autumn has recently been spayed, is fully house trained and travels quietly in the car.

LENNY

Lenny is about 3 years old and is a very relaxed and friendly staffy who loves being around people. He has great patience with our one year old staffy Lola jumping all over him but also loves his alone time, sleeping the afternoon away. Peed a few times in the house which we put down to scent marking because other than that he doesn't pee until he's let out and has never peed in the house over night. Loves his treats and toys, was a bit possessive with these at the start but is getting better. He's well behaved and obedient and learned quickly that he is not allowed up stairs or on the couch……only the arm chair! He's very good on the lead and is picking up the clicker training but slowly! He's good in crate with closed door and is also neutered.

Overall Lenny is a perfect pet who loves a belly rub and would be happy to fit into anyone's routine!

SAMMI

Sammi the Samoyed will be 6 in April but has the energy of a 3 year old. She needs a lot of exercise to keep her happy. She is a very friendly dog and just thrives on attention. She is very good with children, cats and other dogs. She is used to living with other dogs but is equally happy as an only dog. At present her coat has been clipped off but when kept well groomed she has a lovely full coat. She has a 'blow out' twice a year where she looses her undercoat.

SAM

Sam is a collie terrier x aged approx 10 mths. Sam is a very energetic dog that will need a fully enclosed garden. Very well trained on the lead, however,he is an extremely fast runner so will need to be kept on the lead at all times until such time he is familiar with you and his routine. Sam is housetrained and great with other dogs.

Update: Sam is coming on in leaps and bounds. Would make a great companion for another playful dog looking to play all day.

BARNEY

Barney is a neutered terrier x approximately a year and a half old. He is a very sweet and loving dog who is happiest snuggled up on the couch enjoying some cuddles and affection. Incredibly nervous to begin with, Barney has really come out of his shell and is proving to be a fabulous little pet.

Update: Barney is completely house-trained now. He is no longer a nervous dog - very fond of meeting people and dogs (and appears not to mind the cats we have met on our walks!). He has made many a canine and human friend in our local area and enjoys time off lead regularly.

Playtime is a regular occurrence now and Barney has a selection of toys to choose from! Particularly fond of sticks, he loves to walk with them in his mouth, looking very busy! A real sweetheart, he loves his cuddles and hugs on the couch at the end of the day.

Missy
MIssy Missy

This is a special appeal for Missy. Missy was rescued from very bad circumstances and will need a committed and experienced dog owner who has knowledge of the Staffy Breed. Here is her story from her foster family:

We took in Missy back in October .
When she arrived to us first, she was the nicest, sweetest dog in the company of people, her only wish was to cuddle up beside someone, anyone, get affection and fall asleep on your lap. That has not changed in the last few months, around people she is absolutely golden, the best, gentlest, sweetest dog in the world, and will make a fantastic pet for someone who understands what they are doing.
It took a good 6 weeks for her to get comfortable around my own dogs at home, and I have a reasonably balanced pack. Thankfully though as time is going on she has mellowed a huge amount around other balanced dogs.
I truly do think that Missy will make a fantastic, loyal, loving pet, that will give many years of company to a worthy adopter, however the person who takes her will have to come from a quiet, relaxed home with very little or no high intensity excitement. She will do well on her own as an only dog getting all the attention but will also do very well in the company of an older 100% balanced dog.
She's an absolute beauty of a dog, and deserves a good life, same as all the rest!

Harriet
Harriet

Meet Harriet, she is a 9 year old Foxhound, Harriet has been in the care of DAWG for three years, when she came to us she was extremely nervous of everything and would hide in the corner, slowly over time Harriet learnt to trust us and started slowly gaining confidence, although still very afraid of strangers. A fews week ago she made the scary transition from the shelter to a foster home. She has coped surprisingly well and we now feel it is time for her to find the forever home she so deserves. Harriet is a very low maintenance dog and will happily snooze on the sofa all day. We are looking for a home where she will be given time and patience, Harriet has been years looking for her forever home and no dog deserves it more.

Bonnie

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie here. I am a very young Rottie. I am very friendly, bouncy and always on the go. I am in training or boot camp as the people up here say. Not for long though. I have learned to sit for my food. I love to run and was very distracted one Friday. I saw a very very very big dog, until my friend told me it was a horse. So you see, I can learn I just need to be taught.

Email: info@dogactionwelfaregroup.ie

Tel: 0871199977

Update: Bonnie is doing fantastically in her foster home. She is very good with the children and knows to be gentle. Sleeps through the night and good with other dogs.

Latest Update from Bonnie in her foster home!

Hi, I'm Bonnie. When I came to my foster home in November, I was only about 9 months old, I have now grown up a bit and have grown into my big feet!! I LOVE everything!! I love life, people, dogs, food, and my favourite past time is smelling, I smell everything!! If I'm not sleeping, I'm usually having a sniff around the place!! My foster Mammy says I'm a nosey parker and I suppose I am!! While my foster brother and sister are happy enough to lie down and watch everything go on around them, I much prefer to be right beside the humans in my foster family to see exactly what's going on. I like to know what everyone is up to!!! I love meeting people, can sometimes be a bit jumpy though. My foster Mammy says I shouldn't do this, but I just get so excited and happy!! I don't have a tail, but you'll always know how happy I am, I wag my whole body instead! I'm always wagging!! I love to sleep infront of the fire in the evening, but I don't start really snoring until everyone else in the house is asleep!!!

TYCO-BOOKED

Tyco is a Husky/Samoyed cross whose stunning good looks make him the center of attention wherever he goes!
Whoever adopts Tyco will be rewarded with an unswervingly loyal, affectionate dog who is smart as a whip. Unlike most Huskies and Samoyeds he is not a chatterbox (thankfully!) and he is a nice medium to large size, similar to a large Lab.
Like all huskies, he needs lots of exercise and he was terrible on the lead, but a Halti seems to have cured that!
He is very gentle with my little dog but he has a history of reactivity around other males. He also does not like cats, and is unnerved by young children. Tyco would be best suited to an active home with teenagers or no children.
I can't say enough good things about this boy who has been waiting too long for his forever home.

Misty
Misty

Misty is a wonderful, mature Husky. She came to us in a very sad state-recently neutered, abandoned and full of mange. She's back to full health now and would make a lovely family pet. She's a strong dog though so will require a strong person to walk her. She is sweet and lovely and we have yet to hear her bark. She cries and cries with joy when she sees the lead, I don't think she saw the outside world much for her first few years.

Misty has a medical condition called Vons Willebrand Disease. As Misty is in good health, this does not impact on her life right now. If Misty ever needs surgery in the future the vet will need to know in advance in order to provide the right care.

Please help Misty and let, at least, the second half of her life be a happier time.

Chubs
Chubs

Chubs is a 9 month old collie. She is a very intelligent lady and is extremely trainable. Chubs is sooo loyal and like all collies is eager to learn and please. She is extremely sweet natured. She does have a timid side to her so needs a bit of reassuring at times.
Chubs idolises other dogs, she will play all day long if possible. She hasn’t a bad bone in her body and is a really happy gal. Chubs would love a home with another doggy play mate and would love a master who loves outdoor life and is willing to give her the exercise she needs. She is excellent both on and off the lead. Her recall is fantastic. She will return and sit right by your side when told. She would make a perfect companion for someone who loves walking, hiking or running. Overall with a bit of training and loving Chubs will make someone the most amazing faithful forever friend. She really is a beauty!!

He is receiving basic training from a trainer at the moment and the trainer has offered reduced rates to continue this training if the new owner should wish to do so. Neville is on the way to becoming a good mannered all rounder. But he has a way to go, with patience and proper handling Neville will be a loyal companion.

Neville would prefer to be an only dog.

Charlie continues to do well in his foster home.He is approx 10 years old and is a medium sized terrier cross breed. He would be an ideal companion for an older person as he is very content to potter around the garden and have lots of snoozes. He is house trained and really no trouble at all. A secure garden is a must for Charlie as despite his advanced years, he could wander off and get lost.

LADY

When Lady first came to us, she was very thin and she was covered in mange. In her short life it would be an understatement to say she hadnt had the best of care, she is about a year or so old. Thanks to her wonderful fosterer her coat is growing back and the mange gone. We are looking for a home for Lady where she will have lots of company especially another dog. She is a very gentle, intelligent girl who loves to be held. Lady is the perfect name for her. A cat free home is a must for Lady. A secure garden is a must. Lady is spayed and vaccinated
