PIPPIN

Pippin is currently in foster. Here is her glowing report: Pippin is a collie (possibly some springer spaniel in her) and around 2 years old and is impeccably well behaved. From the offset she was friendly, obedient and full of life. She doesn't have a single bad bone in her body. She loves my 2 other dogs and adores my children too.

Pippin is very good off the lead and loves nothing more than a good run at the beach or in the woods. She is always very friendly to any dogs we meet on our adventures!! She can tend to pull a bit while shes on the lead but once she knows who is in charge she is as good as gold. She is very clever.

Pippin will make an ideal pet and a a loving lifelong companion. Whoever offers Pippin her forever home will be a very very lucky person indeed!!

BAILEY

Due to a change in circumstances Bailey's owners sadly have to part with her:

Bailey is an 8 year old mixed breed girl. Bailey needs to be in a home where there is someone around most of the time, where she can be indoors and where she has more space and maybe some older children to play with.  She would love that.  She is very placid and loves to be cuddled and played with.  She just loves company!  Bailey also enjoys the company of other dogs.  She is also really good with children and very gentle.  Bailey loves her home comforts and enjoys nothing more than being indoors, curled up asleep.  She likes her walks but can be lazy if she is comfy and cosy.  I would love to see Bailey go to a nice new home where she would get the love, attention and comfort that she deserves and regret very much that we cannot keep her ourselves.  I am certain and sure that anyone who adopts Bailey as part of the family will not regret it and she will give back the love that she receives twofold!

COBY

Coby is a golden oldie at about 12 years of age.
He has been in foster recovering from an RTA where his rear, left hind leg was injured. He is only barely using it at the moment and is not really weight bearing as yet!! He should get some use back into it but he gets around just aswell on 3 legs and it doesn't slow him down one bit.
He is fully house trained and excellent with other dogs, (his foster pal is also a golden oldie and male), cats, ducks, chickens and the guinea pig.
He is slightly intimidated by larger dogs until he gets to know them and knows that they are not going to hurt him.
He LOVES the fire and has turned into a total lap dog.
'Coby will need an EXTREMELY SECURE GARDEN which is either walled or very flat faced. He was caught security camera trying to make his great escape by climbing up and out over large/high metal gates. He was like a spider, they couldn't believe it.
He's excellent on the lead and would walk for miles but he has a very strange quirk when he is walking.
Coby would fit in anywhere and is a sweet little man. As long as you keep an eye out for his 'Houdini' routine. He is a little character and would love a home to live out his retirement years.

ALF

Have you room in your home for a golden oldie?

Alf is currently in foster where he is adored. He would do best as an only dog or with an older dog who wont get in his space. This is what his fosterers report:

Alf is a little old dog who wants nothing more than to be snuggled up in a nice warm place. He is friendly and low maintenance. He loves walks and his favourite food is pate. Alf is looking for a retirement home where he spend his last few years in peace and comfort. Alf will be on heart meds for a murmur.

Poppy (facing camera) is a 2 year old staffie x girl. She is currently in foster with 2 other staffie dogs. She has an amazing temperment with both people and other dogs and is very gentle when playing with us. She has an issue with cats and is a bit obsessed with chasing ours. Other then that she is really affectionate, easy to train, good on the lead . She loves nothing more then to cuddle up to you on the couch She has settled in very well with our dogs. She can be a little possesive with her balls/bones but that is something that is being worked on. She never had these treasures before and cant believe she has to share. Poppy is a sweetheart who has had a tough start and deserves the best forever home.

Update: Poppy is doing very well in the home with the cats now and is learning to tolerate them.

Poppy is another beauty waiting too long

KINO

We are bringing Kino back to the top of the page as this old fella has been waiting too long:

A cuddly 10 year old medium sized terrier, currently in foster, who is full of character and looks just like a teddy bear. Kino loves his walks, even though he is on medication for arthritis. He enjoys his food, being brushed and tickled, and provides lots of kisses in return. Due to a troubled background of being bullied by a group of small dogs, Kino prefers not to socialise with small dogs on his walks but is as good as gold with smaller dogs when he gets to know and trust them in his own surroundings.

(on the right with his pal Dinky)

GIZMO

Gizmo is a Terrier x approx 4-5 years old. He was relinquished by his owner due to a change in the family circumstances-despite this upheaval Gizmo has settled in great with me.He is a very placid dog-all he asks for is a few good cuddles, a warm bed and a nice walk everyday. He tends to pull on the lead at the start because he is so excited but after that he is perfect. He is good with other dogs but as he was the only dog in his previous home he may be better suited being re-homed as the only dog. Gizmo deserves a second chance at being happy-I guarantee-one look into his beautiful brown eyes and your heart will melt.

As with all our puppies they will not be rehomed where they will be home alone all day as they are so young and children over 5 only.

LEILA

Report from her fosterer: This is Leila. I found her wandering on a beach looking severely thin and exhausted. But its amazing what lots of food and a week of sleep can do for a dog. Leila is as easy-going as it gets. She is just so happy to have company and a warm bed. She loves to roll on her back, go for short or long walks and is learning to play with her foster brother Scooby. Leila is as deaf as a post but it doesnt hold her back at all. There is zero aggression in her. She had a tumour removed from her mouth last week and the vet says that she is healthy and ready to go to her new home. Leila is about 8 years old, so is well past chewing and going to the toilet in the house. Leila would make a great pet for a family, a single person or a couple. She doesnt need much exercise, just lots of love.

Even though she is not a small dog, she is very low maintenance. She is very clean and perfectly house trained. She would be ideal for any loving home.

Molly has recently been diagnosed with a very mild case of epilepsy, this is easily controlled now and she gets two pills a day to keep her happy and healthy. It in no way interferes with her quality of life. She's great with kids and other dogs and a short run a day does her. She loves nothing more than to relax by your side and be at the ready for any attention that is put her way however small. Molly will be an extremely loyal companion to anyone who is lucky enough to adopt her and is willing to keep her company in her twilight years. I really cant recommend her enough!

MOLLY

Molly is an 11 month old typical lively fun-loving collie x. Her owners need to rehome her for her own safety 'Molly needs a new home as we are unable to keep her safe. She needs a completely enclosed garden and ours is not. We live on a busy main road. Molly is a very sweet tempered, loving dog, she's good with children having been around them since she was a puppy. She does jump up sometimes so mightn't suit a family with very young children. Molly is house trained, vaaccinated and wormed. She's a very clever dog and loves to learn new things and does so quickly.  Molly needs a loving home with someone who has lots of time and leads an active life as she loves her exercise and company'.

BAWNIE

Bawnie is a bull terrier approx 6-8 months. She was first found at the side of the road after being hit by a care and she was in a sorry state . Thin, hungry and badly injured back leg. Thanks to the great veterinary treatment received from Liam, one of our vets in Midleton, and the wonderful care given by her fosterer Caroline, Bawnie's life has been totally transformed . She has put on weight and is in great condition now. She has had to endure a steel frame in her back leg and crate rest for the last 4 weeks but has recovered remarkably from her ordeal. Her leg has healed beautifully and she is now able to put weight on it. She will be in crate rest for another two weeks and then the frame will be removed and she will be allowed for short walks under careful supervision for another few weeks. We are confident she will make a complete recovery.
Bawnie is a very pretty girl and so friendly and affectionate. Despite the frame in her leg she is mad to go and will be full of energy. She is house trained but will need a lot of work on the lead as she is not used to it at all. For this reason Bawnie will need to go to a home with experience of dogs as she will need firm handling as she gets used to her new found freedom. She is very excitable so would be best suited to a home with older children. For further information phone Trish 086 1062337

WHISKEY

Whiskey is a sweet wiry terrier over a year old. He's been on crate rest for the last 6 week after fracturing his pelvis and breaking his leg when hit by a car. He has been a very patient boy at his fosterer's for all this time, and doesn't bark in his crate. He's starting to use his leg again but is only allowed short ten minute walks on a lead at the moment. He loves cuddles and being on your lap, he's a sucker for affection. He is vaccinated and will be neutered before rehoming.

Email: info@dogactionwelfaregroup.ie

Tel: 0863457488

Update on Whiskey: Whiskey has come on so well, he is in foster with 4 other dogs and after a few initial teething problems all our getting on. Although as a companion dog we do recommend Whiskey is rehomed with a female pal. He is even learning to tolerate the cat in the home. Here he is curled up on the couch (right) with Tess

MISSY

Missy is a collie x approx 2 years old. She is in foster where she is getting on great. This is their report. Missy is a really friendly dog, she loves attention and needs a lot of attention. She loves going outside for walks but doesnt like being kept outside- say in the back yard if you were going to work, she would hate that! she is definitely a house dog! She is a very affectionate dog so a soon as you sit down she will just appear from nowhere and into your lap. She gets on with the cat in our house so she adapts well to other pets though it obvious they are only tolerating each other! She has excellent recall when walking off lead in the park. She is housetrained, vaccinated and will be spayed before rehoming.

For more information please call Trish at 0861062337

SPARKY-BOOKED

Sparky is a 10-12 month old small jack russell.  He has been looking for his forever home for a long time now. He is a very playful fella and just adores to be cuddled and doted over. He is quite wary of strangers (especially men) but when he gets to know you and trusts you he is the most loveable little boy. Sparky would be best suited in a home with other children because he can be nervous of younger kids and new things eg the hoover and the hairdryer!  He is in foster with two other dogs and he just loves to play and wrestle with them . He is not great at sharing his toys however he does love a game of tug-o-war!  Sparky is vaccinated, neutered and house trained.  He would love a home where there is another dog to play with.

Email: info@dogactionwelfaregroup.ie

LYNDON

Lyndon is a stunning looking hound and is now ready for his forever home. Lyndon is shy when you first meet him and is quite timid around other dogs. He's very chilled out and placid but can be a rougue in trying to sneak upstairs or steal things off the counter-top.Lyndon will make a great family pet. Older children only as he is quite timid.

Update - Lydon has come such a long way since he was first handed in. He is a gentle happy boy who loves his walks and loves to potter. He would make a fantastic pet and we cannot understand why he is waiting so long. Just look at that handsome regal face.
